JoyceDeWitt first appeared on stage when she was 13. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ball State University. During her summer stock performance, she was convinced by the director to apply to UCLA's Department of Theater MFA Program. She was awarded the Master of Fine Arts Fellowship and the Clifton Webb Scholarship. Dewitt claimed she did not meet actor Abe Vigoda while she was at UCLA. She was employed as secretary while at UCLA. DeWitt's role as Janet Wood in Three's Company's 1977-1984 run is her most well-known. She was chosen to play Janet in the pilot for the show and employed. Janet also appeared in the episode of The Ropers in 1979. Following the show's conclusion, Three's Company ended in 1984, DeWitt appeared in an episode of Finder of Lost Loves in the year 1984, in which she then ceased acting for a number of years. In June of 1991 she returned to acting by performing in Noises Off at Michigan's Cherry County Playhouse. [1] She was also a part-time actress in Spring Fling, which was a 1995 TV comedy. Pinky and the Brain featured characters modelled on her voice by another actress in 1997. She was in the episode of Cybill. She's appeared in TV shows like Hope Island, The Nick at Nite Holiday Special, and Call of the Wild in 2000.
